A Little Introduction

About the Friends of the O’Kelly Memorial Library

The Friends of the O’Kelly Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed by a passionate group of local volunteers, neighbors, and community leaders dedicated to supporting the construction of a new, state-of-the-art library in Loganville, Georgia. Our mission is to raise awareness and funding for this vital community project—ensuring our library continues to be a hub for learning, connection, and growth for all generations.

Who We Are

We are educators, parents, professionals, retirees, and everyday citizens united by a shared belief: that a strong public library enriches the lives of everyone in our community. Our members volunteer their time and talents to plan fundraisers, engage the public, and build partnerships that bring this important project to life.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to ensure that Loganville’s library meets the needs of its growing population now and into the future. We envision a welcoming, modern facility where residents of all ages can access free programs, technology, books, and collaborative spaces. By supporting this project, we are investing in education, equity, and opportunity.

Our Role in the Library Project

As a separate nonprofit organization, the Friends of the Library play a critical role in funding and advocacy. While the City of Loganville, Walton County, and the State of Georgia have provided significant financial contributions, additional funding is needed to complete Phase 1 and begin Phase 2 of the new O’Kelly Memorial Library. Our fundraising efforts directly support this initiative—100% of the money raised goes toward construction, programming, and community outreach for the new library.

Honoring Mrs. O’Kelly’s Legacy

Mrs. Willie D. O’Kelly Dubois, a lifelong educator and advocate for children, was instrumental in founding the original library in 1989. She believed that every child in Loganville deserved access to knowledge and resources. Today, her legacy lives on through our work. The new library will continue to carry her name, reflecting her vision of lifelong learning and public service.
